Subject:City of San Luis Obispo Economic Development Strategic Plan (EDSP)
Dear Mr.Johnson:
A vibrant San Luis Obispo is critical to a thriving and innovative Central Coast economy.REACH appreciated the
opportunity to collaborate with the City as it developed the EDSP and looks forward to continuing to support
efforts as a regional partner in advancing the City’s economic vision.
By way of background,REACH is a nonprofit, economic impact organization with a mission to increase economic
prosperity on the Central Coast of California through big thinking, bold action and regional collaboration. The
north star of our work is collaboration with business, education, government and nonprofit partners to create
good paying jobs and provide current and future generations the opportunity to thrive.
We are grateful for the long-standing partnership with the City of San Luis Obispo to promote a thriving Central
Coast economy.Through the Economic Development Practitioner Network and REACH Council, the City has been a
leader in regional efforts to attract jobs and investment. The City has also served as a key member of the strategy
committee to develop a 2-county comprehensive economic development strategy for San Luis Obispo and Santa
Barbara Counties, which the work of the EDSP has integrated with.
The EDSP reflects further opportunity for the City of San Luis Obispo to build a dynamic and resilient economy
grounded on sustainability and equity, including through expansion of partnerships with organizations across the
region and advancing regional promotion efforts to showcase the City and region as a destination for investment
and entrepreneurship.REACH stands ready to support efforts to implement the City’s vision.
