Work is expected to complete August 16 2.Orcutt (Laurel to Fernwood) – Paving work expected from August 16-23 3.La Loma – Paving work expected from August 25-26 Pedestrian Crossing Improvements •Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) installed at 4 locations: •Johnson/Sydney, South/King, Osos/Islay, Broad/Islay •Education •Reduce conflicts before first day of school on 8/17. •Enforcement •SLOPD to conduct targeted enforcement on first day of school. •Ribbon Cutting •Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 3:30pm •King/South Intersection Learn more about RRFBs at www.slocity.org/rrfb Construction Update – North Chorro Greenway Chorro Street Full Closure Scope of work: •sidewalk replacement (west side complete) •street reconstruction •storm drain replacement (complete) •sewer replacement (complete) Schedule: •Week of 8/14: Complete east side sidewalk •Week of 8/21: Roadway paving •Estimated completion end of August Accommodations: •“Business Open” signage •Additional care/protection of adjacent historic buildings •Pedestrian access maintained •Residents and business owners access maintained Construction Update – North Chorro Greenway, cont. Foothill to Ramona Shared Use Path •Concrete poured •Est. path completion early September Curb Ramps 90% of 46 accessible curb ramps complete Bike Medians •Construction will begin September •CMS boards will be deployed a week prior and flyers will be posted along the corridor 7Know Your Evacuation Zone Mitchel Park Heritage Ash Tree Rotating Safe Overnight Parking Program The Railroad Safe Parking program will cease operations as of August 27, 2023 While Rotating Program is developed, an interim location on a 200 ft. segment of Palm Street adjacent to the Vets Hall is proposed on a temporary basis. Program operates nightly – 7pm -7am and parkers are not allowed to remain in the vicinity outside those hours. The Director of Community Development is deferring the Palm Street location proposal to the Planning Commission for decision. Public notice will be provided.
