Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. San Luis Obispo Municipal Members, I am writing to express firm disagreement, both personally and for my community members, with the lack of public hearing for the overnight parking at Palm Street. I ask that the City Council hold this to the same standard as any other impactful action; subject to adequate notice, communicated publicly, and consideration of public comment from community-members. My concerns for this placement are: - This location is zoned as residential with single-family residences along the northern end of Palm Street. - This location is also adjacent to many hotels. These hotels are the ones parents will be staying as they move their kids into Cal Poly. Placing a location for a transient community 804 meters away from the dorms, along the route to the college, will put many parents rightfully on alert about the safety of the surrounding campus area. - Expanding beyond existing city parking at Prado and the Railroad is not a long-term solution given the recent reports at the county parking site. I hope this action will be stopped by the appropriate committee and subject to the same standards as every other action affecting community members. Should this proceed under the Community Director’s Action, I will contribute to the fund locally to formally challenge this. Sincerely, Michael Mitchell San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 1
