Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. SLO City Advisory Body: I strongly object to the nightly closing part of Palm Street near the Veterans Memorial Building. Of all the places in San Luis Obispo that could have been chosen for a "temporary Safe Parking program," this is by far the worst. Obviously, the residents of the neighborhood will be negatively affected, but also events in the Veterans Memorial Building will suffer. I cannot imagine how the motels on Monterey that have their backs to Palm Street, such as the Sunbeam Motel and the Lamplighter, can survive. After the ravages of COVID on their budgets, this could mean the end for them. The other hotels, motels, and restaurants in the area will also doubtlessly suffer, as did the businesses in the area near the railroad station when the "Safe Parking" program was located there. In addition, the high school and college students who walk through the "gateway" to Cal Poly will not be safe. Doubtless, those who park on that area of Palm Street will not enter at 7pm and leave at 7 am on the dot. And their trash and debris will remain in an area that the City of San Luis Obispo has designated as an area to be beautified. Suely, there is another, more appropriate, location for this program. This proposal MUST be voted down. Sandra McGregor San Luis Obispo resident for 29 years 1
