I support the City’s continued effort to provide safe parking for our unhoused neighbors. I’ve walked through the
railroad parking lot many times during safe parking hours, observing the program to be generally clean and quiet. I
would like more information about the statewide best practices which support moving the program around every few
months - I’m concerned this approach will allow individual neighborhoods to effectively veto the program with a new,
unfounded uproar every time the program relocates. However, I would welcome the program moving to my Mitchell
Park neighborhood if it is necessary to relocate. Several people live out of their vehicles in my neighborhood already,
and my interactions with them have been respectful and friendly. While I sympathize with the concerns of railroad-area
businesses, I wonder if they could be addressed via better supervision and enforcement rather than scrapping this
location entirely.
