As a member of RQN, I can 1 testify that our group was not approached by anyone involved with this report, even though we are listed as having participated . Th e same goes for NNOF, Alta Vista, Old Town Neighborhood, etc . The REG management group was indeed involved with this report , but it'&not what you would call a neighborhood association . Considering the importance of this issue for traffic safety an d neighborhood wellness, I request that you postpone consideration of this ordinance until all neighborhood associations have had inpu t into the process. I also can't help wondering why the City needed to hire a consultant to do a job that any appropriate city employee could have don e just as well and, evidently, better . The nearly $25,000 you spent on this consultant could have been put to much better use for all o f us . For example, for years I have begged city employees, most recently Jake Hudson, to finish the sidewalk along the city propert y edged by north Chorro, Highland and Santa Rosa, because when it rains and the dirt turns to mud, students on their way to Cal Pol y have to walk on the road with a constant flow of cars . I was promised it would be included in the 2013 budget but, recently, I was tol d the city lacked the money necessary to do the job . Frankly, I find it very sad that the City can find nearly $25,000 to hire on e superfluous consultant, but cannot find the money to provide students going to school with a proper sidewalk .
