The staff is recommending a project too large for the neighborhood, inappropriate in design, and with no parking! What is the point of the city having guidelines and ordinances if the staff chooses to ignore them? This is pretty simple: The building is too tall, too aggressively modern in design for the historic district and the historic church next door, and parking, what are they thinking? That neighborhood is already too congested with the churches, park and senior citizen's center close by. How many cars will be generated by 9 residential units, and where will they park? Aren't most of the spaces on that street metered? Again I wonder, who is in charge here, you, or a partnership between the staff and the developers? Who has the best interests of the city at heart? This project should be smaller and have on site parking. Thank You for your attention David Hannings The Latimer -Hayes Adobe 642 Monterey St. our favorite city
