The city has so much leverage in terms of environmental/sustainability issues and I am glad that there is a focus on recycling used materials. That being said, I know that funds are the most powerful instrument for any sort of change and that SLO wants to sell the surplus materials (item 6c on today's agenda) for a beneficial sum of money, but I was wondering if the idea of donating or selling some of these items at a discounted price to less fortunate communities could be considered. Environmental impacts disproportionately affect minority groups in less affluent areas, and I think that identifying any communities in need of these materials who may not have the resources/funds that we do would be a mutually beneficial action that SLO could take to mitigate the consequences that climate change poses on all of us, especially minority groups. Thanks so much, Maia Petrovic 1
