Apparently, you r staff has submitted a report recommending new wording that does not improve on existin g regulations—instead, permits for more negative impact to neighborhoods . t I am not privy to what discussions have ensued and I have no knowledge of who can benefit fro m these rewritten regulations . I cannot even guess why regulations with potentially more detrimenta l effects to neighborhoods would even surface for consideration . My comments are based on a basic knowledge of what is amenable to neighborly relations and wha t contributes to an aesthetic neighborhood—conditions I believe all property owners and permanen t residents of this city should be afforded . I'll go a step further to say they should be provide d for by both staff and elected representatives of a city who are watching out for the well-being o f residents . I have been actively involved in neighborhood wellness activities for 11 years . My experience ha s opened my eyes to what many residents face . Except for a few neighborhoods in this city, most streets are unduly impacted with over-parke d streets, driveways packed with vehicles and occasional spillover onto lawns . Now, according to th e staff report, we should expect .... what?....not only more vehicles but ... BIGGER ones ? If it is at all possible, could you delay the discussion of these unexpected and unclea r recommendations to another date after neighborhood groups are properly notified? That wil l give us time to explain how difficult enforcement is currently with the simpler regulations . My story will be about a 45 ft . long, 10' high car hauler which remained on a neighborhood street fo r weeks while it prevented sight of cars approaching an intersection (w/ no stop signs). With Respec t And in an effort to help others , Camille Small 2
