Mejia I City Clerk City of San Luis Obispo 990 Palm Street San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 tel 1 805.781.7102 - - - -- Original Message---- - From: Karen Adler [mailto:fudgeS05 @charter.net] Sent: Monday, June 09, 201410:03 PM To: Mejia, Anthony Subject: mitigating factors regarding the Cal Poly Freshmen dorms Dear Mayor & City Council members: JUN 10 2014 AGENDA CO R SP©NDENCE Date Item# LC' The residents (your constituents) from the Alta Vista & Monterey Heights Neighborhoods are requesting mitigating factors to help us live with the new Freshmen Dorms that will be at the corner of Grand Ave. & Slack St. Since you have let us down by not supporting our request to have the dorms built elsewhere on campus, we would hope you would support us in mitigating factors that $500,000 will barely touch. We want signals at Grand & Slack, sidewalks on Slack, an 8' or higher wall separating the dorms from the neighborhoods to act as a buffer, etc. You need (should) to use litigation to request extra funds to meet the mitigating factors that we need to preserve our neighborhoods. Support your residents for a change & don't bow to the paltry sum of $500,000 which will end up being a band -aid approach to a situation that needs lots of attention. It would be nice to count on our City Council to support it's residents. We are desperately trying to preserve the character of our neighborhoods for permanent residents that care about their homes & quality of life!
