CDBG Community Needs Grant Workshop This message is from an External Source. Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Hello, Please see below public comment for tonight's HRC meeting (October 4th , 5pm) regarding item 5a. Annual CDBG Community Needs Grant Workshop. Unfortunately, we are unable to attend in person due to COVID exposure. Comment: Devon McQuade, Associate Director with 5Cities Homeless Coalition would recommend that the previous funding priority of providing emergency and transitional shelter, homelessness prevention and services remain a top priority. This funding priority aligns with the City's Homelessness Response Strategic plan adopted in March 2023. 5CHC has seen significant increases in requests for homeless prevention and rapid re-housing assistance, with increased needs for supportive services of housing stabilization case management and housing search and navigation. Many households impacted by COVID have still not been able to recover financially and remain unstably housed, coupled with increasing housing costs, any efforts to prevent homelessness or quickly resolve or mitigate its impacts can have an effect on the overall community well- being, in addition to the direct effect experienced by the family. Additionally, with the end of CV funding, local funding for these activities will be vital to serving those on the fringe, as well as leveraging additional state and federal funds to address homelessness in SLO County. -- Devon McQuade Associate Director 5Cities Homeless Coalition (805) 574-1638 Office (805) 459-0531 Cell (805) 668-2380 Fax CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This communication and any documents, files, or previous email messages attached to it, constitute an electronic communication within the scope of the Electronic Communication Privacy Act, 18 U.S.C. 2510.
