SAN_LUI PO t CALIFORNIA ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER-- "--- -' April 16, 1956 Honorable Mayor and City Council San Luis Obispo, California Gentlemen: Analyzing the four bids for the aerial ladder truck, the low bid (assuming a trade in of the 1941 American LaFrance truck) would be American—LaFrance Corporation's which is $74.28 lower than Seagrave. However, the notice to bidders dated that the City in its discretion might decide to keep the old truck depending on the amount of trade in and other considerations. Without the trade in, Seagrave would be $2,925.72 lower than 4merican LaFranee and $1,843.70 lower than hack. The difference between trading in the old truck and not trading it in would be $574.28. It is felt that there would be considerable use for the old truck for weed burning and as a spare and that it would definitely be worth more then $574.28. Chief Waldmeier has analyzed the Seagrave bid width, incidentally, calls for delivery in 150 days compared with 210 days for American LaFrance, he feels that it could make an excellent piece of equipment for our City and that it would be the most advantageous bid for the City, keeping the old truck for the difference of $574.28. I Concur in this recommendation and recommend that the low bid of Seagrave without trade in be accepted in the amount of $38,264.50. Respectfully submitted, Richard D.
