To whom it may concern:
I have lived in this county for coming on 40 years. I've lived in Slo city, Arroyo grande , Los Osos and now Avila Beach. SLO
city holds a very special place in my heart. It was originally designed for people to gather. I am wri?ng the city council
today to beg you to stop killing our precious downtown. Your decisions to increase the parking rates as you have will
eventually ruin the businesses which cannot con?nue to withstand the effects of the rate hikes, and ever growing
homeless presence, I have visited other ci?es in this country that encourage visitors to its vibrant downtown. I
understand that you need to generate more income to build parking structures and I support this. However not by
increasing parking rates for visitors. Our en?re county benefits from having a charming and vibrant downtown. Have you
thought of presen?ng this dilemma of genera?ng more income to build parking to the county? Maybe ask for their
financial assistance ??? Visitors of SlO downtown have a choice. There are many other places in our county where people
can choose to eat and shop for free. I strongly encourage you to reconsider your decision and find other sources of
income for parking. And then maybe tackle the ever growing homeless problem next…
Thank you for your a?en?on to this urgent problem, Jeane?e Efird
