The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center Board is in favor of naming the main performance hall after Sidney Harman. Enclosed is the naming opportunities we have published for the last six years. You will note the PAC main performance hall was listed for $1 million. The Foundation Board feels the Harman gift of $1 million worth of equipment and services meets the naming requirement. Please discuss with the City Council and get back to me as soon as possible. JBL would like to start sending us equipment immediately so it could be installed by the grand opening. JBL Professional is plcased to make a sign.rflicant donation to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo for the new Performing Arts Center. JBL Professional will provide sound equipment for the center with a retail value of approximately S1,000,000 and audio consulting services valued at approximately S 100,000 for a total cost to the University of S s00,000. The equipment provided will be based on the list compiled by your Audiovisual Committee, as much as possible, however in Iight of the tight delivery sehcdule, comparable but slightly different models may need to be substituted- In any case, the retail value of the equipment will still remain approximately S1,000,000 and you will ruceive a "World Class" sound system. Additionally, we will arrange for leasing for this equipment through a third party at an interest rate below the current commercial rateQ. We mali7.e that you are behind schedule and as such this agreement is based on providing the majority of the equipment Wort the end of June, 1996. JBL Professional will also pledge to supply California Yolytcchrdc State University with $800,000 of sound equipment (at retail value) over the next tcn years (Valid until June 30 2006). The equipment would have a total cost to the University of U00,000, A.c discussed this pledge could be put towards upgrades to the Performing Arts Center, rehearsal rooms and class room equipment. We at JBL Professional -are very pleaxd to be able to provide this support to your beautiful Performing Arts Center and we are extremely pleased that in light of this contribution you have agreed to exclusively name the main 12350 seat performance hall in honor of Dr. Sidney Harman and Barman International Industries. in perpetuity.
