MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT: UPDATE ON NAMING OF PAC
I wanted to let you know that on Friday, June 6th, I met with Warren Baker at Cal Poly to
discuss our concern about the naming of the PAC. An agreement was reached between the two
of us that the PAC should not be named after a single individual, but rather the Performing Arts
Center - San Luis Obispo. Secondly, the main hall will be named after Chris Cohen, and third,
the PAC would never be named after a single individual.
Finally, both President Baker and I will be contacting Greg Hind and Warren Sinsheimer to
request that FPAC change its recommendation, and that Chris Cohen be informed of this decision
and the reasoning behind it. I hope this will result in the removal of the recommendation to the
Board of Trustees by President Baker. He has the authority to make the naming of the main hall
without having the Board's approval. Their approval is only necessary if the entire building is
named for a single individual.
The five letters sent by Council Members indeed had a significant impact, and the prospect of
the million dollar loan being in jeopardy was very persuasive. Further, there will be some hard
negotiating to ensure that our taxpayers will not be obliged to pay back any of the loan from
Heritage Bank.
I will keep you informed as I get more information.
