Holidays are the most important time of the year for our salon. The recent parking changes have been met with confusion and anger from our clientele. We pride ourselves as one of the most reputable and high-traffic hair salons in downtown SLO since 2005. The decline in appointments has been noticed by our entire staff since the parking situation has changed. Our clientele has been extremely vocal in this. This has been our slowest year, not including shutdowns during the 2020 fiscal year. We feel that these parking changes, and the lack of consolidated information and education on them, has had a negative impact on our ability to run a business here in downtown SLO. Folks are being ran out, and unable to meet the inflation of these rates as well as the technical difficulties in paying and maintaining their meters. And to increase these rates while every other building is empty and the lack of entertainment options - is concerning. With all of these items considered, we urge the City Council to look at Paso Robles and Atascadero - who have flourishing downtown spaces and a much more manageable parking system. We, and our clients, are finding it more inhospitable here downtown - which has been a vibrant spot for years as we have come to know and love. Please, hear our thoughts and create actionable change. I incorrectly labeled Finney's as a corporate owned restaurant. I rescind that statement as I confused them with another corporation, I have researched and see now that they are a family-owned business with deep ties to SLO. I apologize for this misinformation. Thank you!
