Parking downtown is too expensive for everyone but particularly unkind to
someone working downtown and paid minimum wage. If they cannot secure a
free spot somewhere, here is what they have to pay each day:
Minimum wage = $16.00 per hour
SLO parking = $ 4.00 an hour, on street.
Hence, a minimum wage worker must shell out ¼ of salary to park on
downtown street near their place of employment.
Think about that reality for working-class people.
And, as everyone else is saying, parking fees until 9 p.m. are outrageous;
they arehurting restaurants and movie theaters.
