Hello,
I hope this email finds all of you well. I am taking the time to chime in on the issue of the updated parking fee structure
for our downtown because I believe that the raising of our parking fees to exorbitant big-city levels is not only both
inappropriate and unnecessary, but harmful to our downtown community. While these fees may succeed in extracting
more money from visitors, it is driving away locals from the small businesses that rely on their patronage during the off
season. Locally owned businesses are closing left and right, why add to their plight in this way?
If this parking fee structure is not reconsidered, I fear it will contribute to the loss of our downtown's charm and the rise
and dominance of chain and big box stores such as Finney's, The Habit, and others with corporate backing that allows
them to survive such a climate.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
Regards,
Derek Lauritzen
