I am one of the County residents who is cu?ng back on visits to Downtown SLO since the parking fees increased. Here
are some issues:
Prepaying at a booth or in a structure prevents just enjoying an unspecified ?me in downtown SLO - having to second
guess how long a meal in a restaurant might take spoils a relaxed entertainment. I want to park in a structure and pay on
exi?ng. I don’t mind paying a reasonable rate. Current rates are not reasonable. Especially if you es?mate 4 hours, pay
for four, but then you are ready to leave a?er less than 3…
I don’t want another App on my phone. And having to go to the App to add extra ?me is an unnecessary hassle. I just
want to pay as I leave a structure with a credit card or Apple Pay.
I park in structures because when confronted with a pay machine in the street on a sunny day, I usually can’t read the
instruc?ons. Such machines should have screen technology that can be readily read in sunny condi?ons, with a large
enough font that I don’t need to peer at the screen with reading glasses to work out what I am supposed to do.
A free first hour would encourage visits - many errands just require a short stay.
Remember KISS - keep it simple, stupid.
The new system is anything but simple.
