Use cau?on when deciding to open a?achments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ Dear SLO City Council, PLEASE adjust the current parking situa?on of our downtown asap. We all care about the viability of our city and the current cost of parking is penny wise but pound foolish and will quickly turn our city into “Everywhere Town” where only big chain stores can survive. We may be ge?ng more money per car in the parking garages and meters, but many people are choosing to avoid the downtown altogether. The money that the city receives from taxes from open businesses is more than it receives for parking fees. When businesses close because people don’t come downtown anymore, we all lose. The poor people that work downtown and make minimum wage are at a real disadvantage when they get off of their shi?s and are faced with a $15 parking fee. That’s not right. The students and families who want to shop and eat downtown but don’t have an extra $15 to spend on parking- that’s not right. Small businesses that have made our town what it is that are now struggling- that’s not right. We need to give a li?le to get a lot in this situa?on. This is a very smart and capable group of city council people and I know that there are posi?ve solu?ons to be found. Please make a change before our downtown is full of vacant buildings! Thank you for your ?me and efforts. Sincerely, Michele Hamilton 1
