Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. There is little more I can add to this conversation, but I felt obligated to lend my support for my fellow citizens who have clearly chosen to challenge the recent parking decisions of SLO city. What more is there to say at this point? A significant disconnect from your constituents is apparent. What will hiring yet another consultant produce? What is the city's budget for consultants? How much input do you need at this point? A series of decisions regarding an over priced parking structure that was designed and stalled for thirty years prompted this disastrous domino effect, to what ends? Here we are today. Disenfranchised citizens who no longer feel welcome in their own downtown. Angry merchants who are barely holding on to the ever decreasing marketplace. When city staff recommended this process, what was their forecast for acceptance and success? That in five to ten years when the so called cultural center emerges all will be forgiven? Who will still be here for that event? Not the aging population, who has been entirely displaced by downtown renovations. Not the nearly demolished middle class who cannot afford parking fees or tickets in addition to outrageous food costs. That leaves the tourists and the Cal Poly students who are fortunate enough to be supported by wealthy parents, and the families who own the down town real estate and continue to raise rents without remorse. I leave the rest to be said on Tuesday night. Sincerely, Anne Keller 1
