I have lived in San Luis Obispo for nearly 40 years. I loved downtown and spent many Fridays and Saturdays
happily roaming and dining on Higuera and Marsh. I am a browser and shopper-my gift decisions were made
on those days.
I no longer do this. I have my husband drive me into town and pick me up for appointments and a quick dash
into businesses such as Hands, Eco Bambino, Ah Louis, Anthropologie, etc. He picks me up an hour or two
later after a nail/hair appointment . I not only avoid the parking situation, I really am disheartened by the lack of
driving space due to green bike lanes, delivery trucks taking up the middle lanes, and construction. The yellow
curbs are not used for their purpose-many yellow spots are empty. Downtown seems chaotic and expensive.
Many a time I have returned home without a bag in my car due to a luckless parking search. I look for a way to
navigate a way into Picking Daisies-only to turn around and come home. I am in my late sixties—I am
discouraged as I cannot ride a bike into town or walk up and down parking structures. You guys have forgotten
me and people like me.
I love Mountain Air-parking and shopping are a dream there.
I dislike the parking garages—I have bad knees now. Everything seems tough and uninviting. I am
discouraged about the state of affairs in San Luis Obispo. It is so sad. An hour free in the parking garage is not
going to solve it for for me.
Please do not make things harder by closing more lanes and making parking more difficult and expensive.
