Thank you for reconsidering the parking situation.
I moved to San Luis Obispo 45 years ago. I loved being able to spend my Saturday mornings having breakfast at
Michael’s Deli and then strolling through the charming shops on Higuera. I always bought gifts and clothing items for me
and my family.
I would come downtown at the drop of a hat to purchase a birthday gift and grab a card. I loved supporting my
“hometown”.
I no longer spend time walking and shopping Higuera Street. I am so saddened by this. Not only is the parking
prohibitively expensive, now I face huge parking structures as a senior citizen with bad knees. The green lanes for bikes
are further adding to the confusion of how to navigate a quick trip into Picking Daisies, one of my favorite gift shops. It is
a total mess with huge trucks parked in the middle lane taking up more space while the yellow curb parking is not used
to unpack freight.
I hate it all.
I can’t imagine how Hands and other favorites are making it. I’m sure Eco Bambino and Apropos must be struggling.
Now I often have my husband drop me off in front of my nail/hair salon and pick me up an hour or two later. How is this
helping with the climate crisis?
The cost of parking, lack of spaces, and congestion due to lane closures has made San Luis Obispo a nightmare for locals.
I will continue to support Mountain Air—a local gem with accessible parking.
Again, thank you for listening!
