Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. I'm sure you are receiving a deluge of correspondence on the downtown parking situation. I live in SLO and I have experienced much frustration with the newly implemented parking fees downtown. I registered online and the free first hour did not afford me the free one hour at the Palm structure. I continue to be charged $6.36 for two hours. Not sure what the 36 cents is for. Having recently been summoned to Jury Duty, I experienced more frustration. The jury manager told me the changes in fee structures and procedure has created a PERFECT STORM for jurors. Her words exactly. As a Senior, I paid $10.50 at the Downtown Movie Experience to see a three hour movie. Parking cost $9.00 at the March St. structure. I could drive to Arroyo Grande and pay nothing for parking to see a show. There are now several parking structure employees on site at the Palm structure to assist in people paying for parking. Since the zone numbers are not as evident as needed, people are so confused. One senior asked me if she needed to show her ticket as she exited. All my friends and neighbors who live in SLO are very frustrated with: The rollout and lack of clarity The increase in fees seems unreasonable Residents feel that the increase is to pay for the new structure to be built. Is that in fact the case? 1 If a rollout like this had occurred in a non-government, corporate environment, heads would have rolled. Before retirement I was an executive in Information Systems and I can tell you, I am shocked at the situation. This is a terrible disappointment and a blemish on whoever approved the changes and whomever was responsible for the rollout. The previous system was working just fine and the new system is a mess. I would advise a public statement in the press and email and snail mail to all SLO residents to address this sorry situation. Sooner than later. This is now the lead story in the Tribune and on the tongues of most residents. Thank you for listening. Sincerely, Ellen November 1512 Eto Circle, SLO 93405 310-384-6912 2
