Please go back to the former parking policy downtown. I've almost stopped going downtown because of the increased
parking fees. I hate having to pay for parking when I just need to run into the Apple Store for a few minutes. The first
time I had to pay $9.00 to park after a long lunch at Piedina's was shocking. I haven't been back. I'm no longer enjoying
Giuseppe's and Buona Tavola but have rediscovered Cafe Roma which has free parking. Meeting friends downtown for a
movie, coffee, or a meal is a rarity now. We purposely choose restaurants out of the downtown area because of the
parking fees.
Now that Higuera and Marsh are only two lanes, driving downtown has become a nightmare. More often than not one
of those two lanes is blocked by a truck unloading supplies for the local restaurants and businesses. Just last week I had
to go around five trucks blocking one of the lanes on Higuera between Santa Rosa and Broad. I don't know what else the
City Council could do to make an outing downtown more miserable and less appealing.
Please go back to the one-hour free parking policy in all garages and cut back the hourly rates before our beautiful
downtown becomes more of a ghost town of empty storefronts.
