Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Please go back to the former parking policy downtown. I've almost stopped going downtown because of the increased parking fees. I hate having to pay for parking when I just need to run into the Apple Store for a few minutes. The first time I had to pay $9.00 to park after a long lunch at Piedina's was shocking. I haven't been back. I'm no longer enjoying Giuseppe's and Buona Tavola but have rediscovered Cafe Roma which has free parking. Meeting friends downtown for a movie, coffee, or a meal is a rarity now. We purposely choose restaurants out of the downtown area because of the parking fees. Now that Higuera and Marsh are only two lanes, driving downtown has become a nightmare. More often than not one of those two lanes is blocked by a truck unloading supplies for the local restaurants and businesses. Just last week I had to go around five trucks blocking one of the lanes on Higuera between Santa Rosa and Broad. I don't know what else the City Council could do to make an outing downtown more miserable and less appealing. Please go back to the one-hour free parking policy in all garages and cut back the hourly rates before our beautiful downtown becomes more of a ghost town of empty storefronts. Yours truly, Linda Mahnken 1
