Good morning!
I am a 61 year old active female who has lived in SLO since 1986. In regards to the new parking policies (parking garages,
kiosks, rates, local hour free), I have some concerns and look forward to the city council meeting this evening to evaluate
SLO parking.
My thoughts for your consideration:
Sign up for the free hour and figuring out how to use ithe hour was challenging (and I taught special ed. students
remotely during the pandemic so I know challenges)
Reinstate the free hour for all parking structures for all
Reduce or in some way modify the rate structure for public parking so community members can access our
wonderful downtown at a reasonable rate.
Kiosks are in place in most places and are confusing to some people and at times hard to find.
Paid parking through 6 pm instead of 9 pm. Safety concerns for kiosk use at night and reduce costs for folks to
go out to dinner and a movie in our lovely downtown.
Consider the needs of less able bodied folks who can't walk, ride a bike or park outside the meters as I do when I
go downtown.
Thank you for your consideration of making changes to our current parking rate situation.
