Dear City Council Members,
I am wri?ng to express my deep concern about the dras?c price increase for parking downtown. This increase is unfair to
residents and visitors alike, and it will have a major nega?ve impact on the businesses that rely on downtown traffic.
I understand that the city needs to generate revenue, but there are be?er ways to do it than by taxing people who are
simply trying to visit downtown or support local businesses. The high cost of parking is already a deterrent for many
people, and this increase will only make it worse.
I am par?cularly concerned about the impact of the parking increase on small businesses. Many of these businesses are
already struggling to survive, and the increased cost of parking will make it even harder for them to keep their doors
open. This will lead to job losses and a decline in the vibrancy of our downtown community.
In addi?on to the economic impact, the high cost of parking also sends a message that our downtown is not welcoming.
We want to create a vibrant and invi?ng downtown community, but the high cost of parking is doing the opposite.
I urge you to reconsider the parking increase.
Thanks,
Michelle Houser
