I have lived in the city of SLO for almost a decade and a resident of the Central Coast for over 25 years. The up?ck in pricing is absolutely hur?ng our small businesses, and frustra?ng the residents and tourists. I don’t believe that our small town can jus?fy the current rates that you are charging. Even our neighbors in Santa Barbara charge less. I can think of at least 10 ?mes in recent weeks where I decided to take my money elsewhere strictly because of paid parking in SLO. It’s now more economical for me to Uber both ways than pay your ridiculous rates. While we are a tourist driven economy these businesses rely on locals to support them year round. Your local parking program is a joke. People are ac?vely boyco?ng downtown for these reasons. I guarantee you people will spend more money downtown if you didn’t charge such high rates. I would also like to men?on that I absolutely hate you extended the ?me period for street parking to 9pm and Sundays! Are you kidding me?! As a single woman, most ?mes I am out by myself and do not feel safe u?lizing the parking garage or trying to find “free” parking. Something has got to give or our businesses will suffer. I know you want downtown to thrive but this is not it. I urge you all to reconsider what you have done and your impact is has on everyone.
