Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ Dear San Luis Obispo City Council & Staff, Writing to let you know of another SLO resident who has greatly reduced number of downtown activities such as buying gifts at Hands Gallery & the Cal Poly Store, clothing for myself at SLO Swim & Wildflower, home furnishings at Pottery Barn & Habitat, dining out (especially coffee shops visits), and seeing movies at the Palm Theatre specifically because of the parking situation. Unfortunately our purchases have shifted to online, even for retailers with downtown locations (Athleta, Williams Sonoma, Anthropology, etc.). For coffee we now go to Lucy’s or Pismo Beach. SLO city parking is more expensive than Santa Barbara. This is odd. SLO parking is confusing- which structure on Palm St. are locals supposed to use? No signage about where the “free hour” applies or how to use it. Parking structures with pay stations in dark areas not visible from a street are safe? Not always. Very uncomfortable to have someone meandering on bike through structure circle back to follow you to a pay station. Respectfully request the city council to consider making downtown parking more attractive to all. Hoping downtown SLO can remain a vibrant option for locally owned businesses, their employees and customers. Sincerely, Nina Schleicher Sent from my iPhone 1
