I am writing to express my frustration and concern for the recent changes in parking downtown. As a local who
grew up in San Luis and am now raising a family here, it’s disappointing. The parking rates are exorbitant and
discourage a lot of people from going downtown. Local businesses will suffer and close because of this.
It feels like the City Council is putting revenue over relationships. Which won’t bode well for the town in the
long run.
Please bring back more affordable metered parking and the first 60 mins free in structures.
I feel fortunate, that as a local, I know secret spots and tricks. But not everyone is that fortunate.
And parking rates shouldn’t be raised to pay for a bike pathways. That makes zero sense. You’re failing your
community members and business owners.
