Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Hello, I have some ques?ons and concerns about parking in the city. 1. The parking meter opera?ng hours should be reduced. They make sense on busy nights like Saturday, but they don’t make sense on nights like Sunday a?ernoon when no one is using them. The purpose of parking meters is to increase turnover, so they should not be ac?ve when there is more supply than demand. 2. Parking should be allowed on the street at night. In the case of someone drinking too much and choosing not to drive, they should not be punished by leaving their car. The overnight rate of the garage should be reduced to a point closer to demand mee?ng supply. a. Could you have downtown businesses validate parking? 3. Why do we need a new parking garage and increased rates? I don’t think I have ever seen one of the current parking garages and all street parking full. 4. The parking garages should all be free for the first hour, at least for locals. Why was this changed? a. The “pay for one less hour than you used” feature for the free hour is clunky. The old system based on ?me in the garage worked a lot be?er. Why was that system stopped? If trying to save paper/slips, could you just scan license plates? 5. The parking rates are very high, and seem to be driving away business from downtown. a. Could you have downtown businesses validate parking? Thank you, Cameron Chapman 1
