Hello All,
Lt. Cudworth expressed interest in organizing some Open Range days in preparation for the
upcoming November Range. Because this will be a Qual Range, I know there will be individuals
that are anxious about it. This would be an excellent opportunity for any officer to shoot with
Range staff present, and address any deficiencies, prior to “test-day.”
We discussed holding open range on a Wednesday and a Friday to allow both ends of the week
to attend. My suggestion would be Wednesday 11/4 and Friday 11/6 0800-1700 or so.
Rangemasters: Let me know if you would be available/willing to shift adjust to work Range on
these days.
LT Cudworth and SGT Shalhoob: Please let me know if you foresee any problems with these
dates.
Once I get some feedback, I’ll send out an email announcing it.
Thanks,

Sir, I attached a link. The item is about 3k. There are cheaper options but here are some the highlights. I attached a link
below of what system I think we could use.
1. It allows us to create shoot/don’t shoot scenarios.
2. Create real life scenes in our own city but safely at the range.
3. Prevent hearing injuries.
3
4. Extend the life of our range
5. Reduce ammo budget
6. Environmental friendly
7. Able to provide firearms training for pregnant women that will not cuz concerns for the mother of child.
8. Increased firearms training safety

Thanks Blake. Since the optic isn’t a number we have, I’m thinking maybe it is your personal one?
Sean,
I don’t have this optic number on the list you gave me and the optic you had assigned to Blake is which
is a duplicate with Behrens so I’m assuming Behrens has and Blake’s is maybe his personal optic?
Anyway to confirm that?

Sir, I attached a link. The item is about 3k. There are cheaper options but here are some the highlights. I attached a link
below of what system I think we could use.
1. It allows us to create shoot/don’t shoot scenarios.
2. Create real life scenes in our own city but safely at the range.
3. Prevent hearing injuries.
4. Extend the life of our range
5. Reduce ammo budget
6. Environmental friendly
7. Able to provide firearms training for pregnant women that will not cuz concerns for the mother of child.
8. Increased firearms training safety

Sgt. Stradley,
The purpose of this email is to highlight the excellent work of Dispatcher Jessica Owens.
During the course of
investigation Jessica was forced into making some very difficult decisions in an extremely dynamic and rapidly
evolving situation. She really stepped up and showed her experience and professionalism. I am very thankful
to her this morning. Jessica has been working relentlessly at the ECC during these storms and low staffing.
She
contacted me while I was in the field and passed the information along in the most proper manner. I truly
believe her actions lead officers to find crucial evidence for this case and potentially others. More important
than evidence was the safety she provided for her officers on scene.
I cannot imagine the stress in not having verified officer safety information and knowing what the right
immediate action is to do. As passing along bad information can lead to a whole host of serious problems, like
a bad use of force. Not sharing the information could lead to officers being injured or worse. She did not fold
under the pressure but rose to the occasion. She got us the all of the necessary information in a very timely
manner. Simple put Jessica is awesome!!!
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Blake Etherton

Subject: Annual Leave Sellback
Employees,
Based on your years of service and bargaining group, there is a maximum number of vacation hours you are
allowed to accrue. It is your responsibility to monitor your leave balances and receive appropriate approval for
absences to manage your balances and stay within your maximum. Oracle does not have the capability to
track or send out communications to employees in advance of reaching a cap.
2
Not sure where to find your leave balances?
There are two easy ways to find your absence balances – at the bottom of your payslip and in Oracle (the
Motion system).
On your payslip:
In Motion, click on “Me”
Then click on “Time and Absences”
Then click on Absence Balance
Not sure where to find your annual maximum? The link below will take you to the City’s web page that lists
each bargaining group’s Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) or Resolution. Simply click on your bargaining
unit and read the language related to Vacation Leave.
https://www.slocity.org/government/department-directory/human-resources/employee-salaries-
benefits/memorandum-of-agreements
Also, there is an opportunity annually to sell back some of your leave hours.
As we have done for the past several years, if you are interested in selling your leave, you simply need to fill
out the form linked below and submit the request.
This year, the forms must be submitted no later than December 11th and the payment will be made with the
December 17th pay check.
