I'm studying City and Regional Planning at Cal Poly and I am the Data Analyst for Cal Poly Urbanists. I'm writing about item 6B on the agenda tonight (the purchase of 1166 Higuera St, to be used for surface level parking). Like many students here, I value walkability and sustainability in San Luis Obispo. The Downtown Concept Plan also emphasizes these principles. I believe purchasing this plot of land to use for surface level parking goes against what is in the Downtown Concept Plan. Instead of parking, I propose a mixed-use housing development that provides more housing for the area.
