Dear Architectural Review Commission,
My name is Blythe Wilson and I am a City and Regional Planning student at Cal Poly and a member of Cal Poly Urbanists.
I am writing to you in regards to item 4a, comments on 460 Pacific Street. I support the decision to demolish the single-
family residence and build a three-story residential structure. Senate bill 10 recently legalized this type of density and I
believe that supporting multi-family housing promotes inclusivity, diversity, and affordability for our community. I want
San Luis Obispo to be accessible to all who want to live here and those who are struggling to do so currently. 460 Pacific
Street is located near multi-family residences, and therefore a change in density on this lot would not alter the
“character of this neighborhood.” This increase in density would help to create a more lively and walkable community
where more people are able to participate in public and economic life.
I support a 100% parking reduction. Parking minimums are outdated and not based on factual parking needs. 460 Pacific
Street is 0.2 miles in three directions to different SLO Transit bus stops. The lot is located close to downtown and is a
desirable location to not need a car.
Many of my peers and I are currently in the process of looking for housing and facing the reality of San Luis Obispo's
housing crisis. The additional units provided by this structure serve as an important step in the right direction
Thank you for your time,
Blythe Wilson
