FROM: Nestor Veloz-Passalacqua, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager Phone Number: (805) 781-7073 E-mail: nveloz@slocity.org SUBJECT: DEI STRATEGIC PLAN DATA ANALYSIS PRESENTATION RECOMMENDATION Commissioners will receive a presentation on the results of the DEI Strategic Plan Community Wide Vision Survey. BACKGROUND In fiscal year 2021-2023 the DEI Major City Goal (MCG) included the development and adoption of the DEI Strategic Plan. Due to work plan prioritization and staff turnover, there were delays in the development of the DEI Strategic Plan. In fisca l year 2023-2025, the same DEI MCG work plan item was carried over for development and implementation. The DEI Strategic Plan Framework was presented before Council on May 2, 2023, as a study session item to gather feedback and direction on body of the framework. The Office of DEI executed a contract to hire a consultant, Dr. Beya Makekau, to assist in the community outreach component and pieces of the development of the plan. One of the key tasks of the Office of DEI was the development and release of the DEI Strategic Plan Community Wide Vision Survey. The survey was made available from Sept. 18, 2023 to October 31, 2023. NEXT STEPS HRC is to receive an informational presentation on the results of the DEI Strategic Plan Community Wide Vision Survey.
