I do not live on the Lake, but near it. However, I might as well live on Cuesta Drive since I would have to get into my car
and drive there as I do now. There is no access, even to walk down to the Lake, other than through the Madonna
entrance. If I am correct, though, there could be several areas where I could walk my dog if there was a way to get to
the Lake. I see the many kinds of water birds ... from afar. Not even the local Middle School has access to it and I can tell
that it is immediately next to the Lake. I would think that with a bit of hope, most of San Luis Obispo would support the
Conservation Plan with funding. And, what an ideal time to think about dredging! Please consider seriously the Plan. It
would have to be done in steps, but it can be done. Thank you for that consideration.
P.S. I understand many people are now walking across the dry Lake, however, at least one young person got too close to
where there is still water and became stuck in the mud. His father couldn't get to him, but with his father' advice, the
youngster was able to get himself unstuck. I would hope you might mention to the local media to warn against this.
Sincerely yours, Shirley A. Burns, 1239 Descanso Street, SLO.
