To Whom it may concern –
My name is Jackie Loper and I have lived at 484 Pacific Street in San Luis Obispo for about 37 years. I am
writing in regards to the proposed changes planned for 460 Pacific Street. I don’t know if what I have to say
will have any effect but I feel that if I don’t speak out I have only myself to blame. I was so surprised to hear of
the plans for that very small lot. I understand that high density housing is the “thing” now but this seems too
much for that neighborhood especially with the exemption for parking and set back. It’s a narrow street with
the battle for parking going on all the time. Cars from neighborhoods around us are using it for parking
already because they do not have enough parking for their own places. Adding 10 apartments with the
likelihood of each one having the potential for two cars will really impact the parking. We already have to
sometimes park a block or more away.
Then there is just the size of the building and how imposing it will be to the neighborhood. I have already seen
that with what they are building on the next block up where the old sorority was. I just feel that there has to
be another way to not totally mess up the existing neighborhood for the sake of money and housing.
I don’t know how else to word this. I can just hope that the plan can be modified to better fit the
neighborhood and the impact it will have on those who already live there.
