The plan to dredge the is commendable but expensive. Right now, there is a opportunity to efficiently dig out a sizable portion of the lake with standard earth moving equipment. If the accessible portion of the lake was dug deeper than required a dredge could then pump sediment from the currently inaccessible water covered areas into the newly dug out area. There would be no need for drying areas reducing costs and environmental damage. Trucks could easily transport the dry material to Cold Canyon where I suspect it would be a desirable top cover material. I believe the cost savings would be in the millions of dollars. This would require the Council to exert bold swift action. Hopefully, we will enjoy a productive rain season and this opportunity will be lost.
