Again, I am one of the owners of the nin e acre parcel at the corner of Prado and Elks Lane . To say the least, owning property on the front lines of this problem has been very expensive and unnerving . As of late, just when things finally started to improve around our properties, we were greatly disappointed to see we may be reversing course back to th e old days of our property turning into a war zone and policing nightmare . We want to emphasize, the brunt of our problems neve r came from the temporary or transitional homeless making honest attempts to better their situations . Our concerns were the frightenin g crime, health & safety issues accompanying the swelling numbers of "transients by choice," many of whom were quickly and opportunistically learning to pile into vans & RVs as overnight safe havens . Unfortunately, no w they appear at the brink of successfully piggybacking protection of their interests and lifestyles on legitimate sympathies for the trul y homeless . I guess we property owners should also receive undeserve d and unjustified TT "brickbats," along with the brave three of you, just for pointing this out and wanting to protect our property an d tenants . Maybe the TT could be invited to sponsor some overnight parking, without restrictions, on its parking lot to get a bette r understanding of the full scope of the problem . We, and we believe a very strong silent majority, understands the real problems and supports what you are doing . We all know i t sometimes takes political courage and leadership to take some heat to do the 1 right thing. For that we definitely want to thank you . Our greatest feq is that without the resolve and backbone to stand up and do what's right for all legitimate interests, we are headed for a status qu o mess of a non solution and the worst of all worlds for all parties except for the "transients by choice ." We absolutely acknowledge there are legitimate homeless who need and deserve help . By all means, please get busy to target and help those . The experts in ou r community know who those are . As for the others, if you do not restrict overnight camping, we expect they will continue to grow i n number and go right back to harrassing our tenants while creating health and safety risks around our properties. In fact, if you bac k down now it will likely be ten times worse for us . Right now they feel legally empowered to also threaten us with legal action . Once they believe they have won the political battle as well we are essentially powerless and doomed . Thank you very much for your courage and efforts to do the right thing for everyone involved, especially the truly deservin g homeless .
