Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear Mayor Stewart, Dear Council Members, My name is Anni Wang and my husband is David Chamberlain, we are writing to you requesting some actions by the city to ease and mellow the traffic on the South Broad Street area (between South Street to Ocutt), to make it safer for the residents who use Broad Street daily. We live on Bluerock Drive, which is a Stoneridge II community. South Broad Street is situated with many small businesses and residential houses on both sides. Many many cars (I was told about 30000 cars) in and out and through it daily. It has become increasingly difficult for the residents to make a left turn onto Broad Street due to poor visibility (cars park on Broad street) and heavy traffic flow. There are no marked pedestrian crossings between Woodbridge to Ocutt. We would like the city to consider making some necessary change and improvement, our suggestions are as follows: 1, reduce the speed limit of South Broad Street to 35 (it is 40 currently), we believe that this segment of Broad should be considered as a residential and business zone, people frequently drive through as if it is freeway (227). 2, re-paint yellow lines and turn signs in the center left turn lane for better visibility, if possible add night reflections on the yellow lines; 3. add two or more pedestrian crosswalks between Woodbridge to Ocutt, it doesn't have to be ones like the one on Woodbridge, it could be just painted bright yellow pedestrian crossings with flashing yellow warning lights (like the ones in downtown). 4. increase police's monitor for traffic violations. Thank you for reading and your consideration Sincerely, Anni Wang (925-487-3927) David Chamberlain (805-234-3113) 1
