Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear Mayor Stewart and Council Members, I am writing to you today on Agenda Item 6a. It seems as if there may be an opportunity for unallocated mid-year budget funds. I am asking you to allocate those funds to Staff to update the 2014 South Broad Street Plan passed by City Council (including Mayor Marx) in December 2014. While the land use elements of the Plan have been allowed and installed, none of the Broad Street elements have been done. Currently, you have 25 comments to Council regarding Broad Street and the situation that residents who live in the area face daily. I will not take your time repeating the comments, but I do agree with all of the concerns that my fellow residents have expressed. As far as I can tell, Broad Street does not allow us to reach any of the City Goals that we all consider necessary. Turning right, so that you do not have to turn left into traffic, does nothing to decrease our carbon neutrality. Having a dangerous road that is not pedestrian or bicycle-friendly again does not allow us to lower our carbon emissions. I do not have the answers to solve the Broad Street concerns my fellow residents request, but the plan from 2014 has many places to start. Please, if there are funds available, allocate them to Staff to do the necessary updates to the Council-approved plan from 2014. It will be a start so as we move into the 2025-2027 budget, we will have an updated plan. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your service to the community. John K.
