Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. ________________________________ To the City Council: We have lived on Lawrence Drive off of south Broad Street since 1993 and have watched as already dangerous turning conditions along Broad Street have become steadily worse. Even 30 years ago we attended meetings with the City at that time about neighborhood concerns that it was very difficult to make left turns on Broad Street or cross Broad Street on bike or foot. Since then the problem has become significantly worse due to much heavier traffic, and now it is very dangerous to attempt to turn left onto Broad Street. The fact that the side streets like Lawrence Drive have a sharp turn just before Broad Street where parking is allowed only makes the issue much worse by turning the intersection into a one lane blind turn immediately after turning into Lawrence Drive or when trying to exit. Please restrict parking on these corners. In our neighborhood there are only two main travelways to exit ; Broad and South Street, and both of them are getting difficult to make left turns into. On Broad Street bicyclists are forced to ride on the left side or the road or on that sidewalk or to take long detours in order to get to the few places to cross Broad Street. We are very concerned about driving safety issues near Broad Street in our neighborhood. Please fund the efforts to find a way to calm traffic, make left turns safer, and accommodate more bicycle and foot travel and crossings. I feel that San Luis Obispo has let the increase in housing outpace necessary adjustments to our road safety infrastructure on Broad Street and we feel it is past time to seriously address this issue. Thank you for your time and consideration to this effort. Kevin and Mary Cooper 452 Lawrence Drive Sent from my iPad 1
