Remarks:
E4 arrived at scene for report of fire alarm activation. Four story hotel nothing showing investigating. E4 crew made entry side
Alpha, met with a front desk manager who stated there was a small fire in the electrical room area. E4 Captain was directed
to the electrical room Charlie/Delta corner division 1 via interior of hotel. Upon arrival to the electrical room I found no fire,
light residual smoke. Manager stated that two electricians were working in the room. I witnessed electrician tools lying on
the ground next to a large breaker box 12'x 22" box that appeared to be damaged from an arching flash. E4 shut off main
power to building, backup generators were activated. The 12' x 20' room and the adjoining rooms and exterior were searched
for the electricians. E4 made contact with City Fire for an update on conditions requested one additional apparatus and
Battalion Chief to respond, Battalion Chief upgraded to 1st alarm which he cancelled shortly after arriving at scene. Within
approximately 10 minutes an electrician arrived (co-worker) and confirmed the unexpected arching from the electrical box
and stated the electrician working on box was taken to SVH ER via private vehicle with burns to his hands. No patient contact
from SLOFD. E4 spoke with electrical contractor owner of business and advised him to contact/notify OSHA of
incident. E4 also spoke to Embassy Suites manager and advised him to inform his supervisor and to tie in with the
contractor ...
