Hello,
My name is Ann and I am a resident of the Flora street neighborhood. I was informed that the Johnson Road
Diet is only temporary.
I hope the city will continue this road diet and possibly make the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Sydney
Street more safe for our neighborhood children to cross.
I have an elementary age child who walks with other children to Sinsheimer elementary school. Before the
road diet we only felt comfortable crossing at Johnson and Flora (although this could be precarious because I
have witness drivers not paying attention while turning right onto Johnson and an nearlh colliding with
pedestrians in the cross walk).
Since the Road Diet had been implemented we walk daily to school. Although we have noticed it does slow
down traffic and cross walk flashing lights helps some drivers take notice of our children, it still needs some
improvement. Could it be possible that we keep the road diet and make the crossing area more prominent?
We have had several instances that cars still do not allow our children to cross the street despite pressing the
button and the lights flashing. As adults we have had to wave down cars for them to notice us.
Please consider this to help make our communities safer.
Thank you,
Ann Dinh
