Hi Michael,
Thank you so much for your support and appreciation for the project. We are happy to hear
these new improvements have made it easier and safer for you to travel throughout the
City.
These changes will be made permanent as part of this summer's Roadway Sealing project.
The next Active Transportation Committee meeting will be held on 2/29, where you can
share your feedback. This meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 990
Palm Street, San Luis Obispo. For more information, visit

Hello,
My name is Michael Toews and my wife and I have owned and lived in our home at 2851 Johnson Ave
since July of 2017. We wanted to offer our thanks and support to the City for the recent improvements
made to Johnson Avenue, and strongly urge the City Counsel to make these changes permanent when it
comes before them later this year.
Since moving here we have encountered multiple accidents near our house (prior to the changes),
including a neighbor’s car getting rear ended while waiting to turn left into our driveway and a friend of
my son’s getting side-swiped and run into a parked car while riding his bike up Johnson towards Laurel
Lane.
Since the changes were made we have noticed a significant reduction in noise levels, and feel much
safer due to slower traffic speeds, having a protected turn lane into our driveway (left turn), and an
additional safety cushion for the bike lane when my son (sophomore at SLO High) rides his bike down
Johnson to school.
As the City’s study shows, safety has improved significantly since the improvements have been made.
Accordingly, we respectfully urge the City Counsel to please make the changes permanent for the
benefit of all those who live on and utilize Johnson Avenue!
Sincerely,
Michael and Tricia Toews
