HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016 SLO PD Awards List - NEW2016 SLO PD Awards List Total awards: 13 Total recipient’s: 24 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR ON 8/27/2016: Detective Eric Vitale was selected for this award for his personal mission to eradicate property crimes in SLO. He takes crime personally and goes above and beyond to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He has recently taken on the bike theft and burglary problems in SLO and works tirelessly to complied the evidence needed to arrest these criminals and recovered countless stolen items. Records SupervisorTera Rapp were selected for this award for being a Team Player, however she qualifies for many of the other categories. During the year her department had been short-handed and the number of Public Records requests soared with unexpected circumstances, yet Tera when the extra mile to ensure that she met all deadlines. Due to her knowledge, Tera is the go-to person for all kinds of information. Tera exemplifies the values of the Police Department with service, pride and integrity. GROUP OF THE YEAR ON 8/27/2016: Our 13 Dispatchers/Communication Supervisors were selected for this award for their dedication and hard work during this time period working short staffed. As a Team working many hours of overtime to assure the City of San Luis Obispo had continued coverage. ELK’S ANNUAL PUBLIC SAFETY APPREACTION AWARD on 10/6/2016: Officer Brent Inglehart was selected for the for his efforts and successes as a Daytime Downtown Bicycle Officer. His great attitude and level of respect sets him apart from others. MADD – CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION on 9/15/2016: The listed officers have been selected in honor of their outstanding contribution to help stop the crime of DUI – they were presented by for their hard work. OfficerTim Koznek – Most DUI’s 87 Officer Quenten Rouse – 2nd most DUI’s 72 Officer Luca Benedittii – 3rd most DUI’s 62 Officer Blake Etherton – 4th most DUI’s 28 GRIZZLY AWARD on 6/17/16: Cadet Maria Deras was selected as the Most Inspirational Cadet. MILITARY ORDER OF THE WORLD WARS – LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THE YEAR 2016: Officer Caleb McCornack was selected for his dedications and enthusiasm working with the youth of our city to make a positive difference in their lives. MADD CALIFORNIA HERO AWARD on 6/11/16: Officer Quenten Rouse has been selected for the for his dedication and hard work as a police officer. He has made 70 DUI arrests, what makes this high number even more remarkable is that DUI Enforcement is not his primary job. He is assigned patrol and is assigned other calls for service. SLO COUNTY WOMEN’S WALL OF FAME on 3/12/2016: Paulette Staley has been selected for her dedication to volunteering her time, skills and energies with SLO PD. Her attention to detail and willingness to tackle time sensitive jobs is greatly appreciated. FOOTPRINTER’S AWARD on 11/17/2016: Officer George Berrios has been selected for the for his outstand work with the Traffic Safety Team. In addition, Officer Berrios spends time organizing events with elementary school age children such as Bicycle Safety Skills. Officer Berrios represents the department on the Honor Guard Detail and has recently started developing an Explorer Program and Citizen Academy. FOOTPRINTER’S AWARD on 11/17/2016: Communication Supervisor Christine Steeb has been selected for the for her positive attitude and willingness to tackle whatever comes her way. Her professionalism and attention to detail is her strength. Her responsibilities include training new hires and working as a dispatcher due to staffing shortages.
