HomeMy WebLinkAboutRange Planning sheet FEB 2019San Luis Obispo Police Department Range/ Defensive Tactics Training Plan DATE: 02/05,06, & 08/19 HOURS: 2 SUBJECT MATTER Night Range  LEAD INSTRUCTOR Joseph Hurni  LOCATION SLOPD Range   TRAINING BLOCK DETAIL Proctor in charge: Joseph Hurni Training Objective: Low Light/No Light Shooting exposure and training, to include: Flashlight use, Weapon light manipulation and use for handgun and rifle, shoot/no shoot scenarios Detailed Location(s): SLOPD Range Time required: 2 hours, 1-hour DT session to follow, for groups of no more than 10 officers per session Number of additional proctors/ roll players needed for the training: 1. Blake Etherton (Range Staff) 2. Miguel Lozano (Range Staff) 3. Israel Villanueva (Range Staff) 4. Defensive Tactics Staff Equipment/ Materials required: Officers will bring vest, Sam/Sally Brown, handguns with three magazines, and rifles with at least one magazine Extra rifle magazines 1000 rounds of 5.56 mm training ammo 1000 rounds of 9mm training ammo 500 rounds .40 cal training ammo 500 rounds of .45 cal training ammo 54 IDPA targets 54 B27 targets Training/Scenario Set up: Approximately 1-hour initial set up and preparation each day Training/ Scenario Detailed Outline Handgun Discuss shooting/tactics in no light Options for shooting with weapon light or flashlight, Manipulations Shoot No light Flashlight Weapon light Shoot/No-shoot Scenario based Includes suspect targets and no-shoot targets AR-15 Quick review of Nomenclature , Patrol ready condition, Function test, vehicle carry/patrol ready review Discuss shooting/tactics in no light Options for shooting with weapon light or flashlight, Manipulations Rifle shoot No light Weapon light Handgun Qualification, if time allows Safety Officer: Officer Etherton Safety Protocol: Follow range safety rules, compliance with Lexipol/SLOPD departmental policy, SVH ER will be our hospital in the case of a necessary evacuation, there will be a vehicle staged ready for evacuation if needed, AED and First Aid kits at location.
