However I find great disappointment in the revised architectural plan submitted for 1925 Santa Barbara Avenue. The importance of following the guidelines and maintaining The Railroad District Plan that the City adopted in 1989 is to ensure that new development is architecturally compatible with adjacent buildings. These guidelines were adopted for the west side of Santa Barbara Avenue, please reference §3.3-Railroad District Plan Architectural Review Guidelines. There is also a high concern about the height and mass of this project with the 3 apartments in the rear of the property that they are so close to the Chorro Street neighbors being intrusive and encroaching upon their daily life. If I may suggest taking out the middle unit and moving the triplex to the middle leaving the very back for parking only, this would be similar to the Quaglino buildings and might be a little more compatible to the neighborhood. A reminder about parking, with the new bike lines on Santa Barbara Avenue there is absolutely no parking other than on site. The railroad parking is not an option.
