A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE PARKING MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
AS A TEMPORARY SPECIAL- PURPOSE ADVISORY BODY.
WHEREAS, the City Council established the Parking Management Committee in 1986 as a
temporary committee to provide advice and assistance in the implementation of the City's
Downtown Parking Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council extended the terms of the committee by two years in 1988
to continue to work on parking matters; and
WHEREAS, the City's parking program and management plan will continue to be
evaluated; and
WHEREAS, the City has the need to maintain the Parking Management Committee as a
temporary, special = purpose advisory body for assisting in effective parking management;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo
as follows:
Section 1; A seven (7) member Parking Management Committee is established and the
Committee will "sunset" on March 31, 1992. The members shall be appointed by the City Council
in a manner determined by the Council.
Section-2 : The Parking. Management Committee shall have the following principal
responsibilities:
A. Provide advice on the location, cost, and availability of parking in the central
business district.
B. Improve the effectiveness of parking supply.
C. Establish a program to discourage employee parking in shopper spaces.
D. Protect residential neighborhoods.
E. Encourage ridesharing and other alternatives to the use of private, single-
occupant automobiles.
F. Establish goals and objectives for parking management.

Section 3 s The Parking Management Committee shall be composed of seven (7) members
which include representatives from the BIA, Chamber of Commerce, County, Private Businesses
and Citizens of San Luis Obispo. All members must have a demonstrated interest in providing
effective parking management.
Section 4: The Parking Management Committee shall report to the City Council on its
progress each year until its "sunset" on March 31, 1992.

on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Qxmcilmembers Roalman, Pinard, Rappa, Reiss and Mayor Amin
