RECOMMENDATIO N
Confirm appointment of Kimberly Walker to the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID)
Board to fill an unscheduled vacancy, term ending on March 31, 2013 .
DISCUSSION
Due to the resignation of John Conner from the TBID, effective June 26, 2012, there was a n
unscheduled vacancy on the Tourism Business Improvement District Board . Staff posted the notice
of unscheduled vacancy in accordance with statutory requirements on June 29, 2012, and advertise d
the vacancy on the City's web site .
Council LiaisonSubcommittee Member Vice Mayor Dan Carpenter and Council Member Kath y
Smith conducted the interviews on June 31, 2012 . Following the interview, the Subcommitte e
members recommended the appointment of Ms . Walker .

purpose of the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) Board is to promote touris m
m keting in the City of San Luis Obispo . All applicants and members must be operators o f
ho els within the district, or employed by the operator of such hotel . The Tourism Busines s
I rovernent District (TBID) Board advises the Council in the administration and use of th e
T :ID assessment funds. The Board recommends projects to promote tourism to the City of Sa n
L s Obispo to benefit directly the City's lodging industry .
City of San Luis Obispo is currently recruiting for one (1) unscheduled vacancy, with a term
ing March 31, 2013 . The TBID Board meets at 10 :00 a .m.on the second Wednesday of eac h
nth at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA .
